Lahadi Samira, a young aspiring model who suffers from Alopecia areata (a condition in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body), has been selected as the face of this year’s Rhythms On The Runway.
Rhythms On The Runway is a fashion show organised by the CEO of clothing line “Nineteen 57” KOD.
Samira’s friend, Maud Fadi, encouraged her to cast for Rhythms On The Runway. The interesting thing, however, is that prior to the casting, Samira had no catwalk training.
Eventually, she was selected and made the face of the fashion show. This feat also makes her the first Alopecian to walk the runways of Ghana, she claims.
She took to her facebook to share the news.
Read her post below:
“Maud Fadi (friend) sent me a casting call for Rhythms on the Runway. She knew I wanted to [go to] Accra fashion week but for some reason, she decided to encourage me to come to this very one [Rhythms On The Runway] just for a try.
I had not done any catwalk lessons. I just dressed up and went and she was very happy I made it. I showed the model card to Leana. I had two separate cards which are supposed to be one. Because there was no binding agent. She put the cards together in a particular way and showed me how to present it. Let’s end it here.
I did not just make the call, I made the face of Rhythms On Da Runway (Year of return).
Yep!!! I am going to be the first Alopecian to walk the runways of Ghana. To everyone the believed I have the image, story and the strength to do this. Thank you!”
Congratulations to Lahadi Samira!
