Private investigations firm, Tiger Eye P.I, has welcomed the decision by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to discontinue its investigations into allegation of corruption made against the Presidential Staffer, Charles Bissue.
A statement issued Monday, by the investigations firm headed by the undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, says the Police’s involvement in the case has been nothing but “an unhelpful distraction”.
It follows reports that the CID of the Ghana Police Service has exonerated the former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Mr Bissue, from allegations of corruption.
According to publications, after thorough investigations, the CID, in a final report, concluded that Mr Bissue did not circumvent the laid down procedures of the IMCIM to favour ORR Resource Enterprise, the company at the centre of the incident.
However, TigerEye PI, which captured Mr Bissue, collecting bundles of cash, said investigations are still ongoing by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which they petitioned to probe the politician.
“Tiger Eye P.I. wishes to assure the public that is it fully cooperating with the Office of the Special Prosecutor. The last of such cooperation was on Friday 19 July 2019 when the Office of the Special Prosecutor provided Tiger Eye P.I. with an additional witness statement form,” the statement noted.
It noted further that: “So far as we are concerned, the matter is still under investigation and we await the final outcome of the process by the Office of the Special Prosecutor. We are grateful to the Ghana Police Service for graciously bowing out of the matter since its involvement has been an unhelpful distraction.”
