Lion King isn’t just a movie; it has also made its mark in today’s fashion and beauty space.
Beyoncé’s makeup artist, Sir John, released a Lion King cosmetic collection. ASOS’s collection was also inspired by the 25-year-old film and now, Bloomingdale’s (an online store with 55 shops for Designer Clothing, Handbags, Shoes and more) has curated a shop dubbed “Style Kingdom,” featuring animal-printed swimsuits, raffia hats and tote bags, “Hakuna Matata” tees, and more.
For the first time ever, the department store’s pop-up shop is partnering with a movie to offer shoppers merchandise through September 12.
The German-Ugandan actress, Florence Kasumba, who plays Shenzi the hyena is the guest curator. She tapped into her knowledge of the film and her love of African fashion to identify select items that capture the spirit of the savanna.
Her goal was to select items that captured the “spirit of the savanna,” the grassy woodlands, and the beauty of the jungle animals. She did just that.
Style Kingdom can be found at Carousel, a rotating pop-up driven by cultural themes, at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street store in New York until September 2, and online at bloomingdales.com.
