Sun-Lovers! Here’s What Truly Happens When You Get A Tan!

Let’s cut to the chase.

Sun tanning is damaging to the skin and there’s no “safe tan”. You’re hurting yourself and your skin.

Now that that’s out of the way, here’s really what you’re doing to your skin when you go get a tan.

Tanning is bad for you because your body doesn’t even begin to tan until dangerous ultraviolet (UV) rays have pierced your skin and started to mess with your DNA.

Once the skin is exposed to UV radiation, it increases the production of melanin in an attempt to protect the skin from further damage.

Tanning greatly increases your risk of developing skin cancer…And, contrary to popular belief, getting a tan will not protect your skin from sunburn or other skin damage.

A number of people think that after getting a tan that extra melanin will protect them but that logic doesn’t make sense. You’re doing so much damage just to get that little bit of protection.

We could all use a little more vitamin D, but make sure when you’re getting sunshine, you’re doing it safely. A dark tan may seem sexy now, but it definitely won’t be in 15 years
