Video: University Of Ghana Dissociates Itself From The Claims Made By The Nigerian Professor In The Video

The University of Ghana in a statement has dissociated itself from the claims made by Professor Austin Nwagbara in a video circulating on social media.

In the video, the professor accused the University of Ghana of overcharging Nigerian students and asked such students to take over the university and others in Ghana. He also asked the students to use the Nigerian media to paint Ghana black to the international community.

According to the University of Ghana, professor Nwagbara is currently not a member of faculty at the University.

“Our records show that Prof. Nwagbara was a visiting scholar at the Department of English during the 2011/2012 academic year from August 8, 2011, to July 30, 2012.” the University said in the statement.

The nation’s premier university also added that the claims the professor makes in the video relating to the University’s sources of income, students fees are not true and do not in any way represent the true facts and figures of the university’s income and state of affairs.

The university further states that it finds the claims of the professor as mischievous and intended to mislead the public and harm the reputation of the university.

“The public is advised to treat the contents of the said video with the contempt it deserves,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, Professor Austin Nwagbara is currently being investigates by the CID. The professor reported himself to the police yesterday upon an invitation by the CID.

The professor has been arrested and Cautioned on the offense of Offensive Conduct  Conducive to the Breach of Peace and has been admitted to bail.
