Ghana’s Poetra Asantewa Graduates From The School Of The Art Institute Of Chicago

Poetra Asantewa

You guys…. you know we’re here for anything Black or Ghanaian excellence… and to be honest.. anytime someone graduates… that’s a celebration of excellence right there.

We’re just minding our business then a little birdie gossiped to us that our favourite poet, Poetra Asantewa has just graduated in the United States.

Poetra Asantewaa, whose real name is Ama Asante Diaka, is a former networks system administrator who is also a writer, creative director and fashion designer and an old student of Aburi Girls’ Secondary School (yup, you know we added that only for bragging rights)

Obviously, Poetra’s choice of attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is to improve on her art, which we are totally here for.

Poetra’s spoken word took off in 2010 at the bi-monthly poetry performance sessions of EHALAKASA.

She told Accra Dot Alt in an interview that Mutombo da Poet was responsible for her induction into spoken word as she used to only communicate her works through social media.

Congrats to Poetra…
