It was back in 2017 when Sarkodie officially took rapper, Strongman Burner, under his arms.
As an upcoming musician with so much zeal, signing to Sarkodie’s record label felt just right, it was like the mother ship calling him home.
However, some may argue that after two years of working with Sarkcess Music, Strongman hasn’t yet struck the nerve many were hoping for.
Last year, he launched his album, Still That Ni99a, to a massive crowd in Kumasi.
But for better or for worse, Sarkodie has decided not to renew Strongman’s contract with Sarkcess Music.
In a statement from Sarkcess Music announcing the decision not to renew Strongman’s contract, the record label said “we wish to reiterate that even though the legal relationship between both parties have officially come to an end, we still remain a family.”
“Our doors are forever open and we promise to extend a helping hand anyway possible should our services be needed,” the statement added.
For his part, Sarkodie also gave a personal reflection on the news that Strongman would be leaving his record label.
“We thank God for seeing us through this wonderful relationship. We set a time to make history and we did,” Sarkodie said.
“Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your success story and your legacy,” he added.
Whether it is a painful decision for Strongman or not, he is sounding rather positive about the whole situation.
While reacting to Sarkodie’s tweet, Strongman quoted it and said “Bless up boss, I’m grateful for your support.”
Many have long argued that as a rapper, Sarkodie manages to overshadow Strongman who is a rapper too.
Maybe, this new chapter in Strongman’s music career would be him finally stepping out of the Sarkodie shadow and showing the world the full capacity of his talent.
All the best to Strongman and Sarkcess Music!
