The University of Ghana will represent the country at the Commonwealth Nations Debate competition.
This comes after the school emerged winners of the 5th Commonwealth Day debate competition held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The competition was organised by the Public Affairs Directorate of Parliament to mark the celebration of the annual Commonwealth day.
The winning UG team included Level 200 student Sampson Tagbor as well as Bayouni Dramani Maazu and Agnes Kyerewaa Afful with both being in Level 400.
UG emerged as champions of the competition out of eight participating universities in the competition, including the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), Accra Technical University (ATU), Islamic University College Ghana (IUCG), Central University(CU) and University of Development Studies (UDS).
The debate, was on the motion, “Should churches continue to be tax exempt?” and was graced by a number of notable individuals and members of parliament.
