Team UCC once again emerged as the winners of the maiden African Universities Olympics Games 2019 held in the city of Cairo, Egypt, which took place from 12th to 18th March 2019.
UCC was declared overall winners in both male and female category after bringing home 25 medals comprising 10 gold medal, 7 silver medals and 8 bronze medals with only 18 athletes in all events in one week.
There were about 40 universities from at least 28 African countries who participated in the competition.
They placed ahead of the Astute University of Egypt, who placed second and grabbed 3 gold medals. The other two competing institutions from Ghana-the University of Ghana and the University for Development Studies both won 2 gold medals apiece.
The win does not only affirm UCC as the best in sports in Africa but also the only University of Competitive Choice(UCC) in Africa and further extends an enviable streak of wins the team has found in organised competitions.
Safe to say if it’s there’s an organised competition involving Ucc of whatsoever kind, UCC will emerge victors.
Derek Abrefa, a student of UCC and a national table tennis player, commended the team and urged them to train harder to make Ghana proud again.
KuulpeepsUCC says congrats to the team for the win.
