RANKING: Ghanaians Are The 6th Happiest Africans In World – Mauritanians Are The Happiest Africans

How happy do you feel?

Do you in any way feel more content with your life now than say a year ago?

Well, this latest world ranking of countries that are most happy suggests that over the last one year, Ghanaians have become a lot happier than they already were.

The ranking was measured based on a county’s: GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity and perceptions of corruption.

The World Happiness Report was released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations on March 20, the date that the United Nations has declared to be the International Day of Happiness.

When the same ranking was released last year, Ghana was ranked 108th happiest country in the world.

However, Ghana moved up to 98 this year, suggesting that Ghanaians are generally happier now.

Ghana was also the 6th happiest country in Africa.

Ranked 57 on the global rankings, Mauritius is the happiest country in Africa, followed by war-ravaged Libya with a world ranking of 72.

Nigeria is the third happiest country in Africa with a world ranking of 85, followed by Algeria with a world ranking of 88, Morroco with a world ranking of 89 ends the top five happiest countries in Africa.

Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Benin, Congo Brazzaville complete the top 10 happiest African countries with world rankings of 96, 98, 99, 102 and 103, respectively.

Finland, according to the World Happiness Report, is the happiest country in the world for the second year in a row.

It’s followed by Denmark, Norway, Iceland and The Netherlands.
