KNUST: Mid Semester Exams Is Just Around The Corner; How Prepared Are You?

Midsem IA

Exams is one of the few words most students fear.

The mid-semester examinations are just to test your progress, halfway through the semester.

If you have been paying attention in class or just missing lectures, this is the time to prove it.

The midsem accounts for 30% of your marks for the semester, so it is extremely important and should be taken seriously.

Here are some guidelines to acing the exams and some dos’ and don’ts in the exam hall.

Don’t stay up too late the day before the exam or before any paper. The brain needs a lot of rest to perform at 100% capacity, so getting enough sleep before an exam is important because it rests the brain and improves retention power.

Have a full and hearty breakfast. Breakfast happens to be the most important meal of the day because it supplies the body with the required nutrients for use by the body in various bodily functions including brain functions.

And the most important of all; learn enough. Preparation is key to passing any examination, the more prepared you are the better your chances of excelling.

So basically there are rules in the exam hall and here are a few;

  • No sharing of instruments in the hall ie. Pens, pencils, rulers, mathematical sets etc,
  • No talking in the exam hall.
  • No copying (but to me there is an exception, copy but just don’t get caught).
  • Don’t bring any foreign materials into the exam hall.

The exam begins from the 25th March and ends on the 29th of March, so if you have not started learning, I advise you do so immediately and also if you live off campus and plan on learning till late, you are advised to stay at where you are learning till daybreak because there is news going around that people are getting attacked randomly off campus, so please stay safe.
