A number of people who are self-made millionaires and billionaires had a humble beginning.

Quite a number of wealthy people today were born into nothing, they lived like most of us do until their hard work paid off and got them making the millions we now envy.

Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates and others were not born into families with generational wealth but they have ended up creating their own.

In Ghana, people including Osei Kwame Despite, Papa Kwesi Nduom, Kofi Wayo, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka and others also went through humble beginnings and now live a life of luxury.

They didn’t live in posh homes, some of them even started raising their own children in less privileged environment.

Today,  we go back 49 years ago to the residence in Accra Newtown that is the first apartment rented by Apostle Kwadwo Safo as a young man building a family and what has now become a business empire.

The house is a normal compound house apartment. The landlords lived on the same compound with other tenants.

It is basically like one of those compound house apartments that is normally featured in a Kumawood movie.

Inside the room is the first furniture the Apostle made himself for his family.

This is the home where the now MP for Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo was born.

Her baby cot that was made of metal is still kept in the very room.

Today, the Safo family is known as one of the elite families in the country.

They live a life of luxury but as we have come to know, their father, the patriarch of the family had a humble beginning and even lawyer Adowa Safo wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth as many would have believed.

She was born into a much less life of priviledge than what the current Safo kids are enjoying.

Till this day, Apostle Kwadwo Safo still keeps the apartment he first rented, mostly to serve as a reminder of how far he has journeyed in life.

It is also serving as a place that is pilgrimed to by the members of the Kristo Safo church who want to know more about the man who founded their church and has become a father figure to most if not all of them.

Watch this video for more about the house that Apostle Kwadwo Safo first rented in 1970 in Accra.
