There are lots of young Ghanaian athletes who are killing it in Europe and North America.
Akwasi Frimpong the Skeleton Olympian athlete and Sean Safo-Antwi a track and field athlete based in the United Kingdom are doing their best to represent Ghana.
The list is endless, but we have just found another gem to add to this list.
Meet Abraham Seaneke…
He is currently a student at the West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) in the United States of America where his exploit in track and field sports is fast gaining attention.
This weekend, Abraham, who is a General Studies major, was in the news for winning the long jump competition of the Lone Star Conference (LSC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships in the United States of America.
Abraham, 23, won his first individual LSC title in the long jump with a leap of 24-8.5 (7.53m) on his second attempt which is the second-best mark in program history – in other words, he holds the second-highest score in the history of the competition.
Also, he is now the only jumper in the program’s history to have jumped over 7.50m in two different competitions in the same season.
Last year in Outdoor competition, Abraham earned All-American honours after finishing fourth in the triple jump at the NCAA Division II Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina with a seasonal best mark of 15.66m (51-4.5) on his first attempt.
In 2018, his best mark of the season in the long jump came at the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational with a mark of 7.70m (28-3.25). He won the triple jump at the West Texas A&M Invitational with a mark of 15.43m (50-7.5). Also won the long jump at the WT Classic & Multi with a wind-aided jump of 7.14m (23-5.25).
For Indoor competitions in 2018, Abraham finished fifth in the triple jump at the NCAA Division II Championships to earn All-American honours.
During his time in Ghana and as a student of the University of Ghana, Legon, Abraham was a double gold medalist at the 2016 Ghana University Sports Association winning both the long and triple jump.
He is currently the Ebenezer Senior High School record holder in the long, triple and high jump. He was a three-time Greater Accra School Sports Association Champion (2 x High Jump, 1 x long jump).
Abraham is one proud son of Ghana or to be specific, Kokrobite in Accra, Ghana.
His parents, John Seaneke and Rebecca Allotey must be very proud of what Abraham has been doing.
