#Emergers2019: All You Should Know About Johnnie Hughes

You may have seen me on your TV screens and probably already know me by name or fame, but let me introduce myself.

My name is Johnnie Beresford Hughes, a co-host of TV3’s New Day show. I also host community connect on 3fm, 92.7. I am a professional master of ceremonies, conference speaker, mentor and community rights’ advocate.

I have attended and completed the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) and the Institute of Commercial Management in the UK, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations, Advanced Diploma in Business Studies and a Diploma in Journalism & Media Studies respectively.

You’ve also definitely seen me on Ghana’s Most Beautiful! Not as a contestant of course, lol, but as the host of the show! I act as well and I know you’ve seen me on Sadia, TV3’s innovative and educative series that highlights issues of family, rural-urban migration and many other social issues. You may not be too familiar with my poetic achievements and honours, but I am sure you are aware of the multitudes who attest to the fact that I did great hosting the VGMA red carpet for the first time in 2018! And oh, I didn’t pop that over-flogged question: “who or what are you wearing?”… I had smarter ways of asking that!

I have worked at TV Africa, Viasat 1, now Kwese TV and Pravda radio, now Vision 1 radio. I was also a contestant on TV3’s Bands Alive years before I even started working with Media General Group; TV3’s mother organization.

I remain a keen learner and a humble soul, despite all the awards and accolades in my field of endeavour. I love reading and engaging in intellectually stimulating conversations, but I love to have mad fun with my buddies too. Lol

I am the reigning RTP2018 TV Morning Show Host. I also won the 2017 RTP Award for Radio Development Show of the year, The National Students Awards held in Accra named me a Change Ambassador, the Institute of Media Practice, identified me as one of five potentials for their MABA Rising Star Award and the Ghana Entertainment Awards US also crowned me TV personality of the year in 2018. Most programmes and shows I’ve been identified with have won multiple awards.

What more can I say? I add some magic to everything I do, no matter where who or what is involved!

I am not a great dancer, but I love to dance to great tunes.

There’s more to learn about me, so welcome to my world and stay with me!
