Very soon our result slip will be given to us to inform us on how well or bad (what nobody wishes for himself) we have performed the previous semester. While some will use their phones to verify if all calculations are ok, some students will just look at the grades and the GPA. It is not that they are less serious but most of the times they do not know how the GPA is calculated. If you are part of the second group, rejoice because Kuulpeeps Cucg is here to help you out.
GPA simply means Grade Point Average. It is a number representing the average value of the accumulated final grades earned in courses over time. We have a Semester GPA called SGPA, a Cumulative GPA referred to as CGPA and a Final GPA as FGPA.
Your mark in a particular course will determine your grade in that particular course. Based on your grade you can find your Grade Point (GPt). To know which mark gives which grade, the table below is referred to:
|Letter Grade||Score||Grade Point||Interpretations|
From your Grade, you determine the grade point (GPt).
The Weighted Grade Point is the multiplication of a grade point by the course credit hour.
The credit hour (CR) is the hours a course is taken within a week.
It is indicated on the course registration slip given at the beginning of the semester.
The SGPA then is the summation of the total weighted grade point divided by total credit obtained.
Let us a look at an example of a semester result:
Credit registered/obtained: 3+3+2= 8
Weighted Grade Point: 4.00*3 + 3.50*3 + 3.00*2 = 12.00 + 10.50 + 6.00+ = 28.50
Grade Point Average: 28.50/8 = 3.56
That is the calculation of SGPA!!! Now you can verify your results easily.
