Sefwi Wiawso has been selected as the capital of the Western North Region, by president Nana Akufo Addo.
The president made this announcement today at the Jubilee House during the presentation of the Western North Region’s constitutional instrument.

The president also appointed the Minister of the Western Region, Hon. Dr Kwaku Afriyie as the caretaker minister for the new Western North Region until a substantive appointment is made.
The Western North Region will also receive GHC 20 million as seed money for the provision of critical infrastructure to enable the region to take off smoothly.
Nana Akufo Addo further assured the people of the Western North Region that his government is committed to the growth, progress and success of the region.

Oti Region is the only newly created region left to receive the constitutional instrument backing its creation.
