Kelvyn Boy is an amazing Afrobeats singer who’s been doing music for so so long! He started nurturing his music from when he was very young, singing with his choir at church!

He later started singing with a band, getting paid to play at shows until one very specific moment in time, where his music career took a turn for the best!

“Metro TV called me and my band to come to play on set but we weren’t going to get paid so I was very reluctant to go. I changed my mind, in the very last minute, called my band and we went to play. Turns out while I was playing, Stonebwoy was around for an interview or something. I caught his eye and he stopped to watch me perform. I didn’t even see him until he joined me to sing his song, ‘Run Go’ and that was it. He liked me, Black Cedi liked me and..they signed me unto the label!”

Clearly, Stonebwoy saw great potential and has helped mould him into what he’s become today. He admitted that Stonebwoy has influenced him a lot, especially as a person and it’s extremely evident in the way he speaks and carries himself.

“Stonebwoy is extremely humble! He’s taught me to know when to speak, when to address certain situations and when to ignore them completely too. In regards to music, Stone is a deep lyricist and I would say he’s really taught me how to write good songs and not water down my style just to suit the masses”

The name Kelvyn Boy has no long history behind it. He basically adopted the name because well, anytime he wowed people with his amazing voice, they referred to him as “That Kelvin Boy”. So he thought…why not just use it as my stage name then.

He is passionate about his music and is saddened by the fact that his mum, who passed away is unable to be here with him, enjoying what he’s currently become. His dad, unfortunately, ignored him and left him to his own fate especially after his mum passed and has been absent from his life for a very long time. Big heart as he’s got, he’s working towards finding his dad again and reconciling with him and maybe…building a relationship with him.

When it comes to his music tho, Kelvyn Boy is passionate about projecting Africa and taking his music far and beyond.

He has already hard at it with his team and currently has all of his songs on every digital music platform you can imagine!

He has worked with big artistes such as Sarkodie and Kwesi Arthur and he’s killed his features as swiftly as only he could! He hopes to work with other big names such as Wiyaala and many others soon.

Winning the 2018 VGMA’s Unsung Artiste is just the beginning for Kelvyn Boy. He’s learned so much from great minds, hopes to learn more and is ready to blow everyone’s mind with what he is got coming up!

He believes that now, he has properly found himself and identifies as one of the only Afrobeats artiste in Ghana genuinely doing true Afrobeats.

He has got a whole lot planned and in store for us and if you thought 2018 was his year, brace yourself cos that was just a step to what he’s about to bless us with, musically!
