WhatsApp is preparing to roll out a new feature which is very useful for matching a body part to its owner.
It has just unleashed a beta version of the Android software which introduces a ‘show in chat’ feature.
This gives you the ability to click on an image, press the show in chat button and then be shown exactly where it came from.
This could be useful for, say, remembering which contact sent you a picture of their unmentionables if you’re prone to receiving large numbers of graphic pics.
Rather than spending ages trying to remember whose nether regions are displayed in a picture, you can just click one button to jump straight to the moment in the chat in which they unleashed it.
You’ll also be able to reminisce about the charming language they no doubt used when sending you this graphic image.
It’s also handy if you want to remember when a picture was shared.
This feature is already available for iOS but has been included in a WhatsApp beta update, which means it will be rolled out on general release in the coming weeks and months.
To use the show in chat feature, just select the options menu when you have a picture open.
The rotate image has also been improved, so you don’t have ‘rotate left’ and ‘rotate right’ buttons but one option to rule them all.
Version 2.19.18 of the WhatsApp software is available to people who signed up for to the messaging app’s beta program and was uncovered by WABetaInfo.
