The now elusive Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah is arguably the most wanted man in Ghana.
Aggrieved customers of his gold dealership firm are asking for their principal investments to be paid back to them after state institutions forced the company to shut its doors for not obtaining the proper operating licences.
Now it is believed that Nana Appiah Mensah is in hiding becuase he doesn’t have the money to pay the customers their principal investments.
According to some of the customers they have deposited more than GHS 200,000 with Menzgold.
However, with no sign of the NAM1, the aggrieved customers have now turned to government to help them retrieve their money.
They claim photos of NAM1 shaking hands with President Akufo-Addo and Otumfuor Osei Tutu II gave some credibility to Nana Appiah Mensah and
Most of the aggrieved customers have started demonstrating against the company and mounting pressure on the government to come to their aide.
However, in a Facebook post yesterday, Gabby Otchere-Darko, a high ranking member of the ruling NPP, claimed that NAM1 runaway after he was granted bail following an arrest.
“I understand the owner of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, has breached his bail condition and absconded. We can’t allow those who allegedly dupe people with such impunity to get away with it that easily,” he said in the Facebook post.
However, the police have come out to deny that it has ever arrested or even invited the
Director of the Police CID, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, said as far as the Police were concerned, they have “never arrested or invited” Nana Appiah Mensah.
She said there is no complaint at the Police Headquarters as at Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
However, she told 3news that she is aware the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating Mr. Apppiah Mensah who is said to be hiding in South Africa due to agitation by customers of his Menzgold who have been demanding for their investments.
