Since the demise of the King of Dagbon Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II on 27th March 2002, the traditional kingdom of the Dagomba people has been without a king with series of clashes between the two feuding gates of Dagbon Kingship.
Thankfully, today marks the beginning of a new era, an embracement of peace for the entire Dagbon Kingdom as our eyes are pleased to behold the long-awaited enskinment of a new overlord of Dagbon Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II.
Today, Dagbon achieves a great feat and we commemorate this by cladding in our smocks hence SMOCK DAY.
