Ashesi: “Putting You First” Team Secure A One-Off Victory During The Ashesi 2018 Elections

Election season is finally over. The candidates have put in their highest effort in campaigning to draw people to support them.

Ashesi students exercised their franchise yesterday.  The class of 2021 and 2022 voted at the Archer and Cornfield Courtyard, whilst the class of 2019 and 2020 voted at the Student Hangout.

The candidates who were running for the ASC President and Vice President were

  • Khanitat Sheriff Abdallah, 2021 (ASC President) and Hannah Lormenyo, 2021 (ASC Vice)
  • Cecil Hudson, 2020 (ASC President) and Munira Adam, 2020 (ASC Vice)
  • Christopher Obiorah, 2020 (ASC President) and Afua Carolyne Kissi-Asiamah, 2020 (ASC Vice)

Out of the total of 1025 students, 507 students cast their vote. There were no rejected votes since voting was done electronically.

Khanitat Sheriff Abdallah, 2021 (ASC President) and Hannah Lormenyo (ASC Vice) both of the sophomore class with the slogan, “Level Up” earned 9.7% of votes. Cecil Hudson, 2020 (ASC President) and Munira Adam, 2020 (ASC Vice) with the slogan, “360 Experience” earned 28.2% of votes. Last but not the least, Christopher Obiorah (ASC President) and Afua Carolyne Kissi-Asiamah (ASC Vice) earned 62.1% of votes.

In the end, Christopher Obiorah (ASC President) and Afua Carolyne Kissi-Asiamah (ASC Vice), both of the class of 2020, emerged as the victors after about eight and a half hours of voting.
