UG: University Of Ghana Participates In The 14th Edition Of The West Africa Universities Games In Port Harcourt.

The University of Ghana will participate in the 14th edition of the West Africa Universities Games (WAUG) to be hosted by the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria from Wednesday, 31st October to Sunday, 11th November 2018.

The teams representing UG have been training for the past month to ensure UG wins 85% gold medals in the events they will participate.

Athletes will compete in 16 sporting events: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Scrabble, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, and Volleyball.

The University of Ghana will be competing in Athletics (male), Badminton (male), Handball (male), Table Tennis (male and female) and Tennis (male and female).

The contingent made up of 42 students, 5 Coaches, 2 Sports Organisers, 1 member of the Sports Directorate Sports Management Committee. They will be led by the Director of Sports, Dr Bella Bello Bitugu. The contingent departed on Tuesday, 30th October 2018 for Nigeria. The games started from Saturday, 3rd November and will end on Sunday, 11th November 2018.
