The TTU Akwaaba week celebration this year has been launched and yet some students are not happy with the outcome of things. Here are some reasons why
MOVING OF ARTISTE’S NIGHT TO the MAIN CAMPUS
For years on end, artistes night has always been held at BU campus, it has been the tradition and we all have always rolled with it, however, seems this year brought with it a few changes.
This year’s artistes night has been scheduled to take place at Main Campus and the BU students are just not having it!
The decision triggered several responses from both campuses with security being the headline.
From heated arguments on WhatsApp group pages to students writing letters to the SRC. It was characterized by a whole lot of drama.
The decision still stands though after a meeting an emergency meeting held on the 9th of November by the SRC to resolve the issue.
NO REP YOUR SCHOOL THIS YEAR
Rep your school has always been one of the most outstanding akwaaba week activities. A full day dedicated to reliving your SHS days and a whole night of inter SHS JAMA. Rep your school is always lit.
So imagine the mood of students when the SRC announced it wasn’t going to happen this year.
After several complaints by students, the SRC president in an open forum stated the annual activity had been postponed to next semester as an event on its own.
He said that this was done so the akwaaba week isn’t cramped up with activities. He assured students the event which had been pushed to next semester would be one event the school wouldn’t forget about.
NO STONEBWOY, NO KWESI ARTHUR, IN FACT, WE DON’T KNOW WHO IS COMING
So the news around campus is MTN cancelled their partnership with the SRC for this years’ akwaaba week. The news even went further to say MTN was to bring in Stonebwoy and Kwesi Arthur for artiste night.
Is this info legit? We can’t tell however the fact still remains that we are unaware of which artists would be making it for the show.
The artiste announcement which has been delayed for far too long leaves us wondering if the SRC is having challenges.
As the celebration is upon us, let’s wait and see if the SRC will prove themselves to the naysayers.
