The Los Angeles man who smashed Donald Trump’s Walk Of Fame star has been officially sentenced months after he destroyed the monument with a pickax.
Austin Mikel Clay, 24, faced a judge on Wednesday for smashing President Donald Trump’s Walk of Fame star into pieces back in July.
Prosecutors said during the hearing that Clay used a pickax to destroy Trump’s star on July 25 and fled the scene soon after. He turned himself to police hours after committing the deed.
The judge ordered Clay to attend psychological counselling, pay more than $9,400 to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and perform community service.
Clay pleaded not guilty back in August and told local news reporters that his actions were “lawful and just act”.
He is also the second person to completely destroy President Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Another man used the same weapon to destroy Trump’s star back in 2016 and quickly fled the scene, leaving the weapon behind.
However, on both occasions, the star was rapidly repaired. The Hollywood Walk Of Fame committee has considered moving the star to prevent future acts of vandalism.
