Six years ago today, the dear mother of Asamoah Gyan, Cecilia Love Mensah Gyan, passed away in a gory car accident.

Her passing was undoubtedly a big blow for the entire family. She was such an important figure in the lives of her four children, Asamoah Gyan included.

On the day that is the 6th anniversary of her passing, Asamoah Gyan took to Instagram to both mourn his mother and also lowkey bare some truth of his failed marriage to Gifty Gyan.

“6th November. The day you left us. I’m so upset today 😡😡😡 because so many people are taking advantage of your son since your death but I know God is watching them,” Asamoah Gyan said.

With African mothers sometimes playing a key role in helping their children decide who they choose to marry, it seems that also happened to Asamoah Gyan.

His late mother might have been influential in his decision to marry Gifty Gyan after they have had a child together when she was alive.

“I wish you can see what you chose for me but it wasn’t your fault hmmm,” Asamoah Gyan said on Instagram.

Looks like Gifty didn’t live up to the expectations of Asamoah Gyan’s mother.

He ended his Instagram tribute saying, “but I have learnt lots of things from it. I love you mum. Rest In Peace where ever you are 😢😢😢😢❤️.”

Asamoah Gyan is currently in court seeking for an annulment of his marriage to Gifty Gyan. He has also reportedly requested for a paternity test to be conducted for the three children produced in the marriage.
