KNUST Students Leadership Meets The KNUST Vice-Chancellor And Others For Reconciliation Talks

It seems the students and leadership of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are well on their way to reconciliation and moving beyond all the negativity that led to the infamous demonstration and the subsequent shutting down of the school.

A particular wedge was drawn between the student leadership of the traditional male halls which were converted into mixed-sex halls.

The Conti and Katanga halls executives have been fighting the school authorities since they started harbouring the idea of admitting girls into the halls.

That and many others forced the students to get onto the streets to demonstrate against the school authorities.

However, with the school reopened and a governing council in place, both students and the school authorities have begun taking steps to move past the series of unfortunate incidents.

The hall executives of Conti and Kantaga, accompanied by the KNUST SRC Executives including President Kevin Sah met the VC, former Dean, and the head of legal for KNUST “as part of reconciliatory measures to ensure activities return to normalcy.”

“We registered our desire for the reversal of the Hall and the plight of Executives of the JCR,” a tweet from the Conti Hall said.

We hope both parties are able to come together to make KNUST one of the best universities in the world.
