UCC School Of Business Trains Students With Employable Skills Through Business Incubator Initiative

About fifty students of the School of Business, University of Cape Coast, have been taken through bead and soap making. The training, an initiative of the School’s Business Incubator, is to equip students with skills in bead and detergent making to make them self-sufficient in starting their own business after school.

The facilitator of the business incubator initiative, Dr Edward Amertefio speaking to ATL FM said the introduction of the business incubator project, has challenged many students to unearth their entrepreneurial abilities.

Dr Amertefio believes the initiative with its prospects will help reduce the teeming unemployment rate in the country and help Government Bridge the gap.
According to him, it is unthinkable for a university graduate to remain unemployed after tertiary education.

“Why should someone enter the university, study for four years and become Unemployed? He queried.

“So if you can’t get your dream job this is there to support you. We are hoping that they will use this as an additional means of livelihood. If you want to use it as the main source of livelihood that is okay; but it is an additional means of support”.

Mr Kwame Ofori Djan, one of the facilitators who took the students through detergent making, said he was optimistic the training would help students start their own businesses even while in school due to its lucrative nature.
