Rihanna has turned down Super Bowl performance to support Colin Kaepernick!
Yeah! According to US weekly, Rihanna was reportedly asked to headline but she turned the gig down out of support for Colin Kaepernick.
An insider told the magazine: “The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta. They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.”
A source from Entertainment Tonight also said: “The offer and exposure would have been great for Rihanna as she’s planning a new album and tour but she stuck to what’s right in her eyes.”
Back In 2016, Kaepernick started kneeling during the national anthem to protest against police brutality.
It led to heated debates about free speech and protest within the world of sports, and Kaepernick went unsigned for the 2017 season, which forced him to file a grievance against the NFL that remains unresolved.
Kaepernick did not only started a movement, but he also became the face of Nike’s 30th anniversary Just Do It campaign, and he’s getting more support than ever.
