Ministry Of Education Calls For A Truce As Minister Leads A Team To Visit KNUST Tomorrow

As it is said, if you want something… you’ve got to take it by force.

That principle seems to work most times and something tells us it might work for the angry KNUST students.

For months now students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have been agitating about wanted changes the new Vice Chancellor Obiri Danso has been putting in place.

From converting single-sex halls into mixed-sex halls to locking of hall gates at 10 pm.

A lot has been happening but the recent abuse of a male student by campus security tipped them off.

The SRC called for a demonstration that quickly turned violent after the police reportedly fired warning shots.

The destruction of property runs into hundreds of thousands of cedis.

Now, after such violence, the Ministry of Education has taken note.

In a statement signed by the Director of Communications at the ministry, Vincent Ekow Assafuah said the ministry was concerned about development on campus.

“Meanwhile, a delegation from the Ministry led by the Minister, Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, will meet the university authorities and the students tomorrow,” the statement said.

We hope something fruitful comes out of this meeting.
