Fans who took a listen to Lil Wayne’s 5th new album “Tha Carter V” have been speculating every possible reason as to why Drake was not featured on it.
Wayne decided to address the missing feature during his sit-down with Elliott Wilson Wednesday night for his special CRWNinterview on Tidal. He shared that Drake did have a song with him but he wasn’t featured on the album because of “clearance issues.”
“Clearance” here means that Lil Wayne needed permission from another artist to use something in the song that belongs to the artist.
So it seems Lil Wayne didn’t get the permission to use what he wanted in the song.
“The clearances man. The clearances man. People be trippin’ when they find out who it is and when they find out what the song’s subject is about. They don’t represent the names of something like that,” Wayne added, “You really don’t know why they say no.”
The rapper went on to talk about other artists who were actually featured on his album like late rapper XXXTentacion. He even revealed that he had to be persuaded to feature him on the record because he wasn’t aware of who he actually was.
