Guyssssssssss!!!! New music alert!!
We keep saying we love putting y’all on good music and we never lie!
We found the perfect album to make your whole day and week better!
Odunsi’s album, rare.
The album is exactly what the title says: Rare. It’s rare to get music as good and effortlessly smooth as this one.
Odunsi is a Nigerian artist known for his unique style of music of blending different genres into something he calls, Afro Fusion. He’s one of the geniuses of alternative music and last week, he dropped an album titled rare.
The album is a work of art with the sound and production near perfection. The first song, ”rare” immediately holds you in a trance which gets broken by ”falling” and makes you feel all warm and tingly. On ”take me there”, he featured an amazing singer named Hamzaa and their vocals beautifully blend to produce a masterpeice that ends waaaayy too soon! Like waaayy too soon and this isn’t the only song that kills us by being too short. ”Dance Floor” is another beautiful track that had a funk dance vibe to it and made us feel like putting on skates and joining the cast of the ”Roll Bounce” movie.
Odunsi had amazing features from popular artistes like Davido on “Divine“, Nasty C on ”Express” which we immediately fell in love with, ”Star Signs” with Runtown which is sort of an ahh-mazing blend of disco and afro beats?
Well we found it to be the unique and the perfect beat for a song that talks about the ”not so regular” stuff that attracts him to a girl.
And can we talk about the softness of ”hectic” and ”angel”? The vocals on both songs… so soft, like silk wrapping itself around your body. With Amaarae on ”hectic”, what ankasa were we expecting???!!!! Nothing short of beautiful of course!
Saying the album is perfect is not an exaggeration! We definitely want to applaud him for putting together an album that fuses genres no one would dare touch in the African music scene. He pulled it off and yessssss it’s right there amongst our top 5 albums of the year.
Go argue with your faves.
