The world’s ninth-highest-grossing film of all time “Black Panther” is returning for a sequel with Ryan Coogler as the film’s director!
Yeah! You read right!
The film’s director, Ryan Coogler has been hounded with questions about a part two since the film’s original debut back in February.
Unlike most film directors, Coogler took his time to let the excitement of the first film sink in before answering any questions about a second half even though fans already knew the deal.
Hollywood Reporter says that the deal for Coogler to write and direct the second film has been signed for quite some time, but Marvel and Coogler’s team have been keeping things on the low!
With its early year release, “Black Panther” grossed $700 million domestically and more than $1.3 billion worldwide. Through major success, the film was considered a contender for an Oscar.
This movie became a major defining cultural moment and touchstone, especially for the black community.
Sources say at this time, Coogler has plans to start working on the script next year with an idea to start production in either late 2019 or early 2020.
We can’t wait to see what is next for the world of Wakanda and the Black Panther.
