Every year, a number of inspiring young African leaders are selected as Mandela Washington Fellows.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship, which begun in 2014 is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) which empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking.
Last year the programme recruited about 700 outstanding young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills in a U.S. college or university, with support for professional development after they return home.
It usually recruits young leaders between the ages of 25 and 35, with an established record of accomplishment in promoting innovation and positive impact in your organizations, institutions and communities.
This year, the Mandela Washington Fellowship will open the application from September 12 to October 10 for the 2019 cohort of the Young African Leaders Initiative.
