Richard Nyarko Sackey, born on April 29th, 1993, better known as YAW K is a talented Ghanaian rapper, singer, songwriter, athlete and a holder of a Higher National Diploma in Accounting, who does music in different dialects (English, twi, Fante and pidgin) and comes from Agona Kwayarko in the Agona East district, but raised in Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana.
In 2017, YAW K recorded his first song, titled “Baby”, which he featured Cyche, the CEO of Cyche Records, of which the track became an underground success. He then went on to do more collaborations with different artists like Trey Jay, Blakk Prince, and Esaabah which is yet to be released in 2018.
On January 16, 2018 Yaw K released his mega hit song called “UPNESS”. He later performed the song at the Cape Coast Technical University Wakanda Week (Face Of CCTU).
UPNESS was backed with YAW K’s first ever music video directed and shot by DIR X HENRY KD, which brought about amazing reviews and feedback from fans both old and new.
YAW K is currently being managed by his cousins Ohene K and Jeff Sackey and also being produced by Cyche Records.
“His love for hip hop explains his uniqueness in his style” says YAW K. He further recalls his love for some local artists like Sarkodie, Kwesi Arthur, Jay So, Medikal And Kwaw Kese And his number one international act Nasty Csa of which he plans to work with them soon. “There is more under my sleeves” he says, that he’s working on unveiling to the world.
