TTU: Here Are 8 Out Of Class Things You Would Learn In Uni

group of happy college students looking back

Everyone knows university is about academics. While this is definitely the most important aspect of university, so many of the lessons we learned throughout our years took place outside of the classroom.

We gained so many valuable skills we would not have been able to learn anywhere else.

Here are a few such things being in uni would teach you.

As students, we have a long list of priorities; however, sleep is usually low on the list. Between studying, work, clubs and having a social life, you don’t spend much time sleeping.

This is preparing us for the real world because when we start working, there won’t be enough sleep either.

Most of us don’t have extra money to spend on expensive food. So, we learn to get creative with what we can afford. Did you know there are over 100 different ways to prepare indomie?

Sometimes we just really wanna flex our wallets, give them a little exercise, but Uni shows us it is not always necessary to use your last pesewa to buy the new Balenciaga.

There would be times in school when you will be totally broke!

However, when you’re forced to be on a budget , you’ll learn how to save and avoid unnecessary spending and no place teaches you this better than uni.

You would learn to make smarter financial decisions on a tight budget and this will help you when you go out into the real world because when you’re in the work force and your budget isn’t as tight as you would have them be, you would still know how to manage yourself.

Uni students are always in a hurry.

Whether it’s rushing from class to class, running to make that meeting on time, or simply needing the extra 30 minutes of sleep, we rarely have extra time to spend on hair and appearance. Here is a little tip, do not out dress for a class of 3 hours.

Wear little makeup, keep your hair neat and simple, don’t forget your cologne.

Imagine wearing too much  clothing just for a 3 hour class and nobody even notices you.

You know that group project you had with the terrible group member who did nothing?

Yeah, the same thing happens in the “real” world – lazy people are everywhere. But you got through it with your other group members.

The good news? You now know how to deal with others and have adapted to skill sets required in every workplace.

Maybe you can’t report a lazy person to your boss like you can to your lecturer, but at least you’ll know how to do your part and work around them.

If you don’t take care of yourself in uni, nobody else is going to do it for you.

Sure, your family and friends would check in on you, but you’re the sole person responsible for you – 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

If that doesn’t teach you to be independent, nothing will.

If or when you’re in uni, you’re likely a broke student with limited resources. As a result, you have to learn to utilize things like student discounts, freebies and ways to “make things work.”

These challenges help you become more resourceful – looking for the possibilities rather than settling on what’s in front of you.

Probably one of the most important things you would learn throughout your life.

Being in uni would have you meeting different kinds of people from different backgrounds, having different ideas and beliefs.

The annoying kind, the friendly kind, the comedians, the lazy ones, the introverts, just name it.

Uni will force you to be around such people every passing day.

Imagine you just came back from a very long lecture with a terrible headache. You slowly get on your bed with the aim to sleep it off and boom! the room next door is blasting away dancehall.

Irritating indeed but chale just know that it’s all part of uni life.

That concludes it, you definitely won’t find these listed in your course outline.
