Serena Williams Is The Muse Behind Nike X Virgil Abloh’s New Collaboration For The US Open

When it comes to sports, Serena Williams is hands down the GOAT. We’re not just talking about women’s tennis or tennis as a whole. We’re talking about all sports and all athletes from the past and present. Over the years, Serena has shown that she has no limits, especially on the court, which is why the Nike x Off-White collaboration is well needed and deserved.

Virgil Abloh the founder of the streetwear brand OFF-White and creative director for Louis Vuitton and Kanye West has collaborated with Nike, Ikea (similar to Melcolm) and now Serena Williams. He stated that “With Serena, we have one of our generation’s most powerful, inspiring athletes as the muse,” and “I was trying to embody her spirit and bring something compelling and fresh to tennis.”

With that being said the ” Queen” Collection will be centered on her love for ballet. It will also feature Off-white most sought-after pieces like The 10: Air Max 97 and The 10: Nike Blazer Mid SW.

According to Virgil, “Serena will be wearing a special PE edition of her NikeCourt Flare 2 along with a tennis dress that “has sort of a ballerina-esque(Tutu) silhouette to symbolize her grace and aggression on the court”.

We can take a peek at the collection when Serena wears it on the court during the US Open tournament. But for now here is a sample of some of the looks below.

Abloh, who founded streetwear company Off-White and is now the artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton, said he studied Williams' past looks before designing the new collection.

A special dress form was made to Williams’ exact measurements for Abloh to work off of during the design process. He had the tennis star give input on all the design elements she wanted to include in her Grand Slam look.
