Thirteen Persons Arrested At Aflao For Smuggling Fuel

Thirteen persons have been arrested by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in collaboration with the National Security and the Ghana Armed Forces while they were transferring fuel from a ship to containers at the shores of Aflao in the Volta Region of Ghana.

These persons are suspected to be part of a group that smuggles petroleum products.

The NPA stated that preliminary investigations that were conducted showed that the arrested persons communicated with the captain of the ship through text messages and that the suspects are able to identify the ship they are to do business with when lights in all other docked ships are off.

The identities of the 13 arrested are however yet to be disclosed.
