Students taking an exam

People, about 26,434 of those who sat for the 2018 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have got some big explaining to do to mummy and daddy.

For the record… we are not jealous of them right now.

The thing is…. WAEC has withheld their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results because they are being investigated for various examination malpractices.

If they are found guilty, their results will be cancelled, a statement signed by Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, the WAEC Head of Public Affairs and obtained by Kuulpeeps, said.

“The Council is alerting members of the public especially candidates to be wary of impostors, who promise to change examination results for a fee. Candidates are to note that all WAEC results are well secured and can be authenticated. Persons with forged results will be exposed” the statement went on to say.

So please do not try deceiving mum and dad – the truth will come out eventually.

Just in case you’re wondering – the 2018 WASSCE candidates performed a lot better in Social Studies and Integrated Science but not so much in Mathematics and English.

Now… who can blame them?

Texting is making most of us dumb in writing English and truth be told a large number of us are still figuring out how Pythagoras theory is helping us.

We are certified maths haters and WhatsApp ain’t helping that much either…damn

The performance of the candidates in regard to the four core subjects are as follows:

  • English Language 147,232 {46.79%) obtained A1-C6; 99,402 (31.60%) obtained D7-E8 while 68,002 (21.61%) had F9;
  • Mathematics (Core): 120,519 (33%) obtained A1-C6; 94,607 (30.09%) obtained D7-E8 while 99,275 (31.58%) had F9;
  • Integrated Science: 158,691 (50.52%) obtained A1-C6; 109,069(34.72%) obtained D7-E8 whilst 46,367 (14.76%) had F9;
  • Social Studies: 230,141 (73.27%) obtained A1-C6; 46,464 (14.79%) obtained D7-E8 whilst 37,494 (11.94%) had

Well, if universities are sticking to Maths, Science and English admission requirement with C6 as the lowest acceptable grade for any of three subjects then about 67 per cent of the 2018 WASSCE candidates aren’t going to uni this year.

They’ve got a date with remedials…
