Meet The Youngest Contestant Of The 2018 National Science And Maths Quiz

Competing with other older teenage contestants is a huge deal and a wonderful opportunity, and Addae Gyabaah should be proud of himself. He is a 16-year-old boy who participated in the 2018 NSMQ. He attends Kumasi Senior High Technical School (Kumasi SHTS). Kuulpeeps got a chance to speak to the budding youngster.

Kuulpeeps: Hello! We would like to know more about you and what your motivation was to contest in this national competition. But first of all, tell us your name and a little about your educational background.

Addae Gyabaah: Hi Kuulpeeps!

My name is Addae Gyabaah. I am 16 years of age. I live at Atwima Agogo (Abuakwa – Agogo). I attended the Modern Educational Center for my primary education and Bandaogo for my Junior High education.

Kuulpeeps: How supportive has your family and school been throughout this competition?

Addae Gyabaah: My family and school have always offered a helping hand in terms of my academics. I will forever be grateful to them.

Kuulpeeps: Did you encounter any setbacks gearing up for the competition?

Addae Gyabaah: Yes, I have encountered many setbacks. Some included discouragement from peers; my friends felt that I was immature to take part in the competition.

Kuulpeeps:  How did you overcome the setbacks?

Addae Gyabaah: By God’s grace I was able to cope with whatever they say, so I considered all that they said as a way of encouraging me. And this worked for me even though we didn’t make it to the final.

Kuulpeeps: Who inspired you to compete?

Addae Gyabaah: My teachers, old students of the school, my parents and some friends.

Kuulpeeps: Wow!!! Then you have a good support system. What were your expectations for the competition?

Addae Gyabaah: I was expecting to make it all the way to the finals alongside my team obviously. Who knows I could have probably been the youngest contestant to win the NSMQ for the first time.

Kuulpeeps:  What university do you want to go?

Addae Gyabaah: I aspire to further my education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)

Kuulpeeps: What course would you like to offer?

Addae Gyabaah: I would like to offer medicine. It is one of the few courses which I am most passionate about.

Kuulpeeps: What are your plans for the future?

Addae Gyabaah: I am planning to be a surgeon in order to serve my nation and my family as well.

Kuulpeeps: Are you single or dating? If Single why… Any reasons???

Addae Gyabaah: Single. Because right now I’m not interested and until I achieve my goals I am not going to indulge in that act.

Kuulpeeps: We wish you all the best in your endeavours.
