The news about the sudden demise of the former vice president Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur broke out at the early hours of Friday morning.

The president of the republic, Nana Akuffo Addo expressed his condolence through a series of tweets.
In the statement, he praised Amissah Arthur for his public service and extended his condolences to his family and the former President, John Dramani Mahama, under whom, Amissah Arthur served as Vice President.

I have learnt with shock and great sadness the sudden death of the former Vice President of the Republic, His Excellency Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur. He has been a longstanding public servant, who discharged his duties with dignity.
