In a press release by the Communications Directorate, Jubilee House-Accra, the EC boss, Mrs. Charlotte Osei and her two deputies have been removed from office.
This follows allegations that were leveled against her by her two deputies, Amadu Sulley (in charge of Operations), and Georgina Amankwa (in charge of Corporate Services). The two deputies were to also answer for their alleged roles in the disappearance of some GHS480,000 from the EC’s Endowment Fund, among other allegations.
Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Charlotte Osei was to answer for six allegations out of the 27 accusations.

A five-member committee was set up by the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, to investigate the EC chairperson Charlotte Osei, together with her two deputies – Georgina Opoku-Amankwa and Amadu Sulley as prescribed under Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.
The committee was presided over by a Supreme Court Judge who had two other Court of Appeal judges (male and female), as well as two other members who were nominated by the Council of State (female and male) as its membership.
In the pursuit of Article 146(4), the committee recommended their removal on the basis of stated misbehavior and incompetence.
Per the provision of Article 146(9), the President, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo has thanked the three persons for their service to the nation and has instructed them to hand over their respective schedules.
