A Historic Moment: Saudi Arabian Women Can Now Drive

We recently reported that women in Saudi Arabia will be able to drive soon hence the reason for them hosting their first ever car expo for them.

Well, that time has come guys!, as the clock hit midnight on Saturday, Saudi women took to the streets in their cars after the ban on driving was lifted, a group of women who had been granted licences started their engines, some with fathers or brothers alongside, and others in new cars bought for the occasion. Several women shouted with delight. Others cried, and many more took videos of their first time behind the wheel.

Media houses from around the world flocked to Riyadh and Jeddah to document the moment that came after years of campaigning – Saudi Arabia is the last country in the world to lift the ban on women driving.

Overnight, the few women in the kingdom who had their licenses ready were dubbed to celebrity status.

 

 

Among the women driving was Reem, the daughter of Prince Al Waleed bin Talal, one of the wealthiest men in the kingdom, he posted a video at midnight that showed her driving

What a historic moment this is for the women in Saudi Arabia. Many praises to Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, for lifting the driving the ban, one of many measures he is taken to improve the country’s economy.
