The suspected thief who was caught at the Mensah Sarbah all female block: Block E, on Friday, 22 June has escaped from the police custody.
The suspect, who told the police her name was Doreen Safo but is known by some students as Jane, claims to have been visiting a friend named Hunter Kobby in the Akuafo Annex B hall, AKA Gonja.
However, during interrogation, she was unable to point out the said hall, nor was she able to give more information about the friend in question.
She is said to have made her way into one of the Special rooms in Mensah Sarbah main hall block E, which is reserved for national service personnel, to steal but was caught by some residents of the same hall.
The police confirmed that she has been arrested on numerous occasions for theft on the Legon campus and is a known face at the station.
She’s been caught allegedly stealing laptops in Volta hall, and very recently stole a laptop from Limann hall as well.
