Do you recall seeing this gentleman anywhere?

How about this?

mister okyere

Probably this should be the missing key to the puzzle.

This the gentleman that lit the stage with Samini during the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Mizter Okyere said he has been playing the saxophone for the past 6 years and yet he doesn’t have any formal training on how to play the saxophone.

Wondering how he plays it so well? Mizter Okyere told us that he believes his ability to play the saxophone very well is by the grace of God.

In his very own words, “One thing is nobody taught me how to play the saxophone. I didn’t know how to play it and all I had to do was know the songs and my hands will do magic. A lot of people have been asking me how I do it and if I tell them it’s a gift they think I am lying. It’s something I have prayed for and I am not surprised.”

For the past six years, the saxophonist has worked as a solo instrumentalist playing gigs for some of the big bands in Ghana. Talk about Patch Bay Band, ASA Band, Safoa Band, Black Lace band and many more.

Currently, he has his own band named MOFMUSIC Band (Mizter Okyere & Family Music Band).

He has also worked with some big names in the music industry such as Sarkodie, Becca, Edem, Guru, Kofi Kinaata etc.

It was actually no surprise that he was contacted by the management of Sarkodie to perform with him on the day of the VGMAs.

According to him, his performance with Samini during the VGMAs was a point of proving to a lot of people that all he had to do was listen to the original music in order to play the saxophone.

He was contacted on Tuesday prior to the event on Saturday and went for rehearsal with Samini’s team. He wasn’t very familiar with the songs Samini wanted to perform and so he decided to copy the songs and go home and listen to them and come back for the final rehearsal on Thursday.

The end result of that was the sterling performance he put up on the night of the VGMAs.

He was recently invited to perform at the house of the former president John Agyekum Kufuor during the event which was in connection with the JAK Leadership Centre.

Aside from playing the saxophone, Mizter Okyere also runs his own recording studio at Tantra Hill.

As to whether his trade is lucrative, Mizter Okyere said he makes sure he is paid well and so he is very much ok.

Take a look at his version of Davido’s Assurance.
