Former Manchester United Player Memphis Depay Is Visiting Cape Coast

Memphis Depay

Bad timing?

Just when Ghana is at its lowest in football, we have such a visit from the former Manchester United player to the current winger of the French side Lyon, Memphis Depay.

Hell… we don’t even have a Ghana Football Association anymore, thanks to the corruption of some GFA officials and Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Though Memphis is of Ghanaian descent, he is Dutch.

Born on 13 February 1994 to a Dutch mother, Cora Schensema and a Ghanaian father, Dennis Depay in South Holland village of Moordrecht, Memphis has started his youth career at age 6 in 2000.

His playing style has earned him acclaim, with fans, media and former players drawing comparison to Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who believes “Memphis is one of the best young players in the world”, while Louis van Gaal, Ronald Koeman, Guus Hiddink, Arjen Robben, Marco van Basten and Wayne Rooney have stated “he will be the best in the world”.

He is visiting Ghana with a team on charitable grounds and some sightseeing too.

Watch him dance Adowa below:

Welcome home, Memphis.
