University of Ghana Final Year Student Has Been Granted Bail After His Arrest For Advocating For #OpenUGMCNow

This gentleman was arrested yesterday by the police for raising a placard and advocating for the opening of the University of Ghana Medical Centre when the First Lady was giving a speech during the sod-cutting ceremony of a new pediatric and intensive care unit at Korle Bu.

His name is Reginald Sekyi-Brown, a level 400 Pharmacy student of the University of Ghana. He has been advocating for the opening of the Medical Centre for some time now, but he got arrested this time because of the approach he used.

He reportedly walked towards the First Lady with his placard when the First Lady was delivering a speech at the during the sod-cutting ceremony of a new pediatric and intensive care unit at Korle Bu.

He was released on bail by the police yesterday around 6:30 PM.

Meanwhile, the office of the First Lady, H.E Rebecca Akufo-Addo has said she is not pursuing legal actions against Reginald.
