When everything looked like Donald Trump will be making history in an extraordinary meeting with the President of North Korea, Donald asked for a Nobel Peace Prize.

A noble prize for something that was yet to happen.

Now… Donald Trump has cancelled his planned summit with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, blaming his decision on a threatening statement from the Pyongyang regime.

In a formal letter to Kim released by the White House, Trump said he had been “very much looking forward” to the summit in Singapore on 12 June.

But he wrote: “Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting.”

Trump declared that the meeting would not take place “for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world”.

Although much of the tone of the letter was regretful and it contained conciliatory passages, it included a reminder of the size of the US nuclear arsenal.

What’s happens now?
