After the just ended SRC elections where we all figured Team SlyDom had won, some students protested against the results based on the fact that, the EC rejected results from Jean Nelson Hall and Volta Hall based on the case of over voting.

This was because, at the Jean Nelson polling station, the total votes counted exceeded the total number of verified votes by 5 whereas in Volta Hall, the votes exceeded by 1.

According to Radio Univers, the Judicial board has ruled for re-voting at Volta hall and the Electoral Commissioner has been instructed to revert the annulled results in Jean Nelson Aka Hall and add the results to the provisional results.

The votes collated from the Nelson Polling station on the day of the run-off were:  Clement-337 and Sly-454

Volta Hall had: Clement Bofa- Oppong- 149 Sylvester Amoako – 212.

Reverting the annulled results of the Jean Nelson polling station means those figures will be added to the total number of votes collated at the end of the elections.

Now the question students are asking is…is it remotely possible that Volta Hall’s votes after they take to the polls again will tip Sylvester Amoako off the presidential seat he’s yet to sit on? Share your thoughts with us in the comments box below or use the hashtag #UGDecides on social media.
