Oh no… not this!
Ebony’s father Nana Opoku Kwarteng has publicly disclosed that his daughter was a victim of abuse at RuffTown Records.
In an interview on Peace FM last Saturday before Ebony was crowned the Artiste of the Year, Nana Opoku claimed that Bullet verbally abused Ebony.
“She told me about the abuse severally, she was not happy with her management led by Bullet, she complained bitterly about her situation,” he said in the interview.
Though he knew about the harsh working condition his daughter was facing, he couldn’t help her.
“As a father who so much loved his daughter, that hurt me. I was always praying for her to get out of that situation but there was a contract she had signed, so she needed to abide by that, she had no option. I just kept my cool about what she was going through,” he said.
Now this shines a new light on the famous tweet from Nana Appiah Mensah, the CEO of Zylofon Media.
Hours after the passing of Ebony, Nana Appiah Mensah took to Twitter to pay a tribute to the musician, in it, he also claimed that Ebony begged him to bail her out of her contract with RuffTown Records.
He said Ebony might have needed $100,000 to get out of her contract with Bullet.
Now that Ebony’s father claims she was unhappy at Ruff Town Records, it explains why Ebony was reportedly in a desperate search for a new recording home.
In an interview with Zylofon FM to clarify his Ebony bailout tweet after the backlash, Nana Appiah Mensah also disclosed that though he did have a meeting with Ebony, it was her who called for the meeting by texting him repeatedly.
This Queen was looking for a new Kingdom, she never got it.
RIP Ebony and congratulations on the VGMA Artiste of the Year Award.
