Understand Monochromatic And Wear It

For a while, blocking colours was the in-thing to do and if you weren’t mixing and matching, then no one recognizes you as a “Fashionista”.

These days, no one pays so much attention to that trend (that’s the thing about fashion trends, they keep evolving) as celebrities and influencers are now stepping out in all black, all white or even head-to-toe red; It’s not one easy trend to pull off but the professionals made it seem so by playing with gradients and mixing in pieces with different textures to keep it interesting.

The word “monochromatic” breaks down into two parts: “mono” meaning single and “chromatic” meaning colour. So a monochromatic outfit would consist of pieces of one colour

This doesn’t mean that you would only wear solid black or solid red from head to toe. No, the point of a monochromatic outfit is wearing different shades and tints of the same colour.

So imagine.

If you take blue paint and add white to it in increments, the colour of blue would get lighter resulting in different shades of lighter blue tints. If you were to add black to blue, it would get progressively darker, resulting in a variety of darker shades. The light tints (light pink) and dark shades (pink) of a single colour are what is best used to create a monochromatic outfit.

The joy of going with a monochromatic colour combination is that it will work with pretty much any colour you choose: purple, red, blue, green, brown, pink…you name it.

So there is no reason for you not to get into this style because there are many colours that may look marvellous with your skin tone, eyes, and hair, which will only be enhanced when pairing multiples of the same colour together in one outfit.

If you ever think of going down this risky lane, let these photos be your guide to success.
